President Donald Trump takes aim at Canada’s trade policies, accusing the country of taking advantage of the United States for decades and arguing that American workers, farmers, tourists and businesses have been treated unfairly.
Trump says the U.S. has suffered tens of billions of dollars in annual losses in its relationship with Canada, while criticizing Canadian tariffs, banking restrictions and the movement of auto manufacturing across the border.
The president argues that tariffs and stronger trade policies can bring manufacturing back to the United States, saying America has the resources and economic strength to negotiate from a position of power.
