Former Democrat House Judiciary Committee chief counsel Julian Epstein alleges officials were warned about potential immigration fraud as early as 2014 and suggests political considerations may have discouraged action.
“I think most of the officials in Minnesota … I think they all had plenty of notice that immigration fraud was rampant in the Somali community as early as 2014 and sort of looked the other way,” Mr Epstein told News24 host Elizabeth Pipko.
“One can reasonably suspect a reason for that might have been because they were getting a lot of votes from that community.
“I think there was so much systemic corruption that was going on with this welfare fraud, which now totals as much as $10 billion.
“It’s part of sort of, I think, the welfare kleptocracy that we don’t talk about enough; we don’t take seriously enough.”
