US defence secretary warns Europe ‘not to make a sucker out of Uncle Sam’

US defence secretary Peter Hegseth has issued a stern warning to America’s NATO allies, telling them to start spending 5% of GDP on their militaries. Speaking in Brussels after a meeting of NATO defence ministers, he said Donald Trump was not prepared to allow Uncle Sam to be turned into ‘Uncle Sucker’.
