Florida gubernatorial candidate Byron Donalds has announced state Senator Bryan Avila as his running mate in the 2026 race for governor.
Donalds introduced Avila, a Miami-Dade state senator, as his choice for lieutenant governor and outlined his vision for continuing Florida’s Republican leadership.
During the announcement, Donalds warned voters about what he says would be the consequences of Democrats taking control of the governor’s mansion. He also highlighted Florida’s economic growth and criticized what he described as Democrats’ embrace of socialism.
Donalds and Avila will face Democratic gubernatorial candidate David Jolly and his running mate, former Congresswoman Gwen Graham, in November.
