House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer is investigating potential insider betting on prediction market platforms amid concerns that government employees or military personnel could use nonpublic or classified information to profit from wagers.
In an interview with OAN Chief Political Correspondent John Hines, Comer discussed inquiries involving five major prediction market platforms and the committee’s efforts to determine whether additional safeguards and legislation are needed.
Comer said investigators are seeking information from the companies about their fraud-prevention measures. While he pointed to several suspicious trades, he emphasized that the investigation is not an accusation that the platforms themselves acted illegally.
The Kentucky Republican also discussed the possibility of legislation prohibiting government officials and military personnel from profiting from classified government information through prediction markets.
